About Aliran Bebas

Discover our journey, mission and vision for empowering Singaporean youth through the ancient art of Modern Seni Silat.

Our History

Founded in 2015 by a group of passionate youths from various tertiary institutions, A.B began as a humble gathering of individuals who shared a deep love for Silat and a strong desire to keep the tradition alive.

Since then, A.B has grown into a movement — using Silat not just as a martial art, but as a foundation to nurture and guide the younger generation. Through structured training, community engagement, and cultural immersion, we aim to build resilient, respectful, and confident individuals who are proud of their identity.

Our Purpose

It is more than just learning physical techniques, our youths are instilled with values rooted in Adat Melayu — discipline, humility, unity, and service. In doing so, A.B promotes the beauty of our Malay heritage while giving back meaningfully to our Malay/Muslim community.

Promoting Malay Culture & Heritage

Through silat, we keep the beauty of our adat melayu alive – from traditional movements and attire to language, philosophy, and respect for elders. Our programmes and performances proudly showcase our cultural roots.

Empowering Youths

We use silat as a foundation to develop confident, respectful, and responsible young individuals. Our programme is designed not only to learn about artistic silat, but to instill values such as humility, discipline, teamwork, and perserverance.

Giving Back to
the Community

We believe in serving the community that raised us. Aliran Bebas participates in community events, collaborates with schools and local groups, and organises outreach activities to uplift the malay/muslim community.

Nurturing Identity & Leadership

We create safe, inclusive spaces where youths can discover their identity, grow their leadership potential, and form meaningful connections. Senior members guide and mentor juniors, ensuring knowledge and values are passed down with care.
